Hirtshals Museum

Hirtshals Museum is housed in an old fisherman's home built from boulders in 1880 – and is larger than it appears from the street. Here you'll find the story of a town born by the sea: the construction of the harbour, the fishing industry, the ferry traffic and the shipwrecks. You'll also encounter the national drink of the people of Vendsyssel, "bjesken" – a herbal spirit brought to life by nurse Signe Hansen using plants from the dunes. A living museum full of character and salt air.
